Until idiots start complying with the rules then social distancing will continue for a very long time to come

When people start taking their heads out of the rear ends and stop the nonsense about "their rights" and start wearing a mask. Once everyone wears a mask, it will slow the spread and eventually die off. But we all know that people are stubborn and won't do that one simple thing. So yeah, we'll have to wait until a vaccine is ready, which won't be until 2021, the earliest. And once a vaccine is distributed, it will take several months until herd immunity takes effect. So, we're looking a 2022 as a decent target for when we can expect normalcy to return. But I'll say it again, if everyone will start to wear masks, normalcy can return much sooner. But we all know people won't do that as simple as it is, so yeah, 2022 is a reasonable estimated time.

After a vaccination has been distributed to protect us from the virus. Truth be told it could've been over if people would just listen in taking protective measures from infecting others. Thus slowing the spread until it died off completely making it safe and free to walk around.

As soon as effective vaccines against it become available, perhaps a few more months. Then COVID will go the same way as Polio, which was also once a great plague.
