    W = T+y = 3P. Then T = 3P-y. so, for P = 8, T = 3*8 -y = 24-y.

    W = 3P

    P = 8

    Therefore,

    W = 3(8) = 24

    W = T + y

    Therefore,

    24 = T + y

    T = 24 - y

    Wally is 24 (because he's 3 times as old as Pete who is 8 years old).

    If Wally is y years older than Til, that means Til is y years *younger* than Wally.

    Answer:

    24 - y

    W = Wally's age , T = Til , & P = Pete......W = T + y = 3 P...P = 8.....T = 24  - y.....HMMM ...6th grade work
