There is no air remaining, the bag collapses but it can hurt or ache.

No.  If there is no more...nothing happens, the IV is empty. There is no air to be pumped

Blood will start flowing back the other way and clot. This makes doctors irritated and means even more work for the nurses. They need to find a new site for the another infusion canula.
