Radiopharmacy mR/hr exposure question?
You have accidentally dripped I-131 onto your best pair of shoes. A survey meter shows the exposure rate at the surface of your shoes is 86mR/hr. Radiation safety informs you that the shoes will need to be isolated until the exposure rate reaches background (0.1mR/hr). What (date) will you be able to grab your favorite kicks if this
accident happened on 05AUG2020?
I am confused if this is expecting me to calculate how long this would take via I-131 half-life, or using the inverse square law, or if I have to somehow convert 86mR/hr of I-131 to mCi. Please help, thank you.
