What causes an itchy breast or nipple? Atopic dermatitis is a common cause of an itchy breast or nipple. This type of dermatitis is also called eczema, which is an inflammation of the skin. While its cause is unknown, atopic dermatitis can cause dry skin, itching, and rash. You can take the advice of a skin specialist.

Not to cause a panic, but please make an appointment with a board-certified gyn just to rule out any breast health issues. Perhaps the itching is due to eczema ("atopic dermatitis") or perhaps another issue. Please, however, do *not* try to provide a self-diagnosis or self-treatment and instead talk with a gyn.
Just for anyone to know, if one's areola (nipple) has dryness, it could be eczema, for instance, however, that *could also be a sign of a rare form of breast cancer* referred to as Paget's disease of the breast.

Depending on your age it could be a hormone issue, or even a sign of cancer. If it doesn't go away in a day or two see your doctor.

You either have some sort of itchy rash on one breast, or the skin on one breast is dry.
