They MUST be doubted and questioned. That is how science works. That is the scientific method. That is how wrong ideas are corrected and our knowledge moves forward.

Question all you want. That's what we scientists do to each other, all the time. But for ****'s sake, ask INTELLIGENT questions. The vast majority of the questions that come from nonscientists are absolutely droolingly idiotic. Exhibits A-Z: Yahoo Answers.

Of course you should question them.  Their job is to be questioned.

But there is a difference between questioning something and just declaring it is wrong, because you would like a different possibility
