Help, I tried to make conversation with a well liked younger coworker and I came across as awkward, feel stupid, should I keep being polite?

And not try Again

I tried to be casual and make small talk but she gave me a yes/no miimal word answer.

I did not interrrupt her and she wasn’t busy.

It was a quiet time

Feel she may look at me as an “Awkward older colleague”

Thats Not me.

We just have little in common and she has rarely tried to have social conversation with me.

Feel so awkward and embRrassed

We are both females and the conversation

Was harmless, casual and “small talk”

Shes loved by all

Update:

Was just trying to “get along” with her and chat as shes so loved at work, and a great worker/nice person to nearly all.

Just doesnt chat to me, except hi/bye/work talk

Ultimately, decide what is best for you.  If you want to continue to make conversation with your colleague, then do so.  Important to remember, not everyone is going to resonate with you and some people simply prefer to keep their workplace interaction to a minimum.
