Fair to whom would be the question. The unscrupulous employers who hire these people will claim theyc an't compete as all their competitors are doing it. The whole system is so deeply entrenched, by design and by conspiracy with both major political parties involved, that unraveling it in a way that wouldn't severely disrupt the economy would take a very long time. The don't really get "federal aid" but they get state aid when states get to decide how to spend the federal money they get for various programs.

You think Hector Gonzales is sneaking across the border then negotiating a corporate deal with American businesses?

No one "gets federal aid" to hire undocumented workers. Hiring undocumented workers is prohibited by federal law.

Every year it's always a challenge for farm owners to find enough American laborers to pick American crops.  There are never enough Americans who want to do that menial labor.   So undocumented workers is the system that has worked for over a century.

And a word of caution:  Be careful what you wish for or your grocery bill might skyrocket.
