If a radiologist sees something concerning in an ultrasound do they send off the results immediately to the doctor?

Update:

Not an X-ray

Update 2:

What I’m asking is would it be considered as an emergency and sent to my doctor straight away.

A radiologist IS a doctor. The radiologist interprets an ultrasound, and forwards his interpretation to your doctor. Your doctor then tells you what the ultrasound showed.

In an emergency situation in a large hospital, your doctor could received the radiologist's interpretation in a matter of minutes. In a non-emergency situation, it might take a couple of days.

They are suppose to send it no matter what they see.

Imaging findings requiring emergency treatment would be reported immediately - probably over the phone as soon as the finding is made.  But not all serious problems are an emergency, so you cannot draw many conclusions about the results based on the time ti takes to get the results.

Depends entirely what they saw.  If an ultrasound showed (say) a possible tumour, the radiologist would first discuss his findings with you.  Then you might be sent to the hospital connected with the radiology department to discuss your options which would probably be a confirming biopsy.  Your doctor would be sent your results but would probably not be the specialist you would see.

I would recommend that you post your question in a section of YA dealing with health and/or medical issues.  Your question has nothing to do with higher education.
