Then surely we should rename the Spanish Flu, "the American Flu" or the maybe the "Kansas Flu" which killed up to 50 million people, after all it originated in the USA and was taken to Europe by American soldiers.

Calling the current disease a "flu" is not accurate, because it's not a flu. Influenza is a "flu". COVID-19 is not.
It's also not a biological weapon.
