How can we better promote healthy lifestyle and eating?

I would simply nutritional facts because they are unnecessarily boring and complex. Once people have a clear understanding of what caloric intake and macros are they will try to make smarter choices

Stop calling fast food places restaurants. When I watch American TV they say something like they went out for breakfast, or they brought dinner home, and really they just went to a fast food place.

There's plenty of information out there, and by now, people know about food industry lobbies and the food pyramid. Parents don't want to hear their children are overweight and will storm the school if nurses inform them of same. Children, who by the way, eat candy and sunflower seeds all day in school, have no interest in learning that they oughtened have cake and ice cream or McDonald's. See what happens if teachers throw a health food party featuring crudites and healthy lunch, and no child eats a morsel.
Nowadays, even doctors hesitate delivering the "obesity is dangerous" speech. And bariatric surgeons are taking in the money. Finally, if anyone thinks there's a satisfactory curriculum on best, eating practices, have at it. In fact, there'd still be plenty of arguments on that topic from Paleo advocates, vegan devotees, vegetarians, anyone beholden to the meat and dairy industry, intermittent fasting practitioners, and any group, unintentionally omitted. In short, as a free society, it's up to individuals to regulate their food intake. There's no way to mandate good health regimens. We can't even get them to wear a mask in public.

Education on diet would help a whole lot. There are people that don't know how to read nutrition labels, how to accurately count calories, how to cook, don't know what a healthy diet even is etc.
People don't seem to know how to exercise beyond getting some exercise equipment like a treadmill or something else boring and then don't stick with it because its boring. People need to learn what counts as exercise so they can do more exercise. Biking, hiking, walking, swimming, sports, yoga, rock climbing, running around and playing with dogs or kids, dancing/playing dance games, jumping on a trampoline, rollerblading etc are all exercise and are all so much more fun than running on a treadmill.
Therapy. I think most obese people could benefit from therapy much like anorexic people do.
By not selling sh*tty weight loss products like pills and teas. People try these thing expecting they will work and get discouraged when they don't.
There are probably a hundred other things. Obesity is not a simple thing or we would have figured this out long ago but those are some things that came to mind.

Do you know that over 70% of Americans are either obese or overweight? That’s insane! Think of your body as your physical shell to take you through life. If you repeatedly abuse it, your shell will wear out quickly.good health isn’t just about healthy eating and exercise — it’s also about having a positive attitude, a positive self-image, and a healthy lifestyle. Life is beautiful and you don’t want to bog yourself down with unnecessary health problems. Today, your vital organs may be working well, but they may not be tomorrow. Don’t take your health for granted. Take proper care of your body.

It has to be easy for the majority of people. It has to be possible.
Education is the only way. People have to be educated in how to eat, not the food pyramid, but that they should eat healthy, cheap and foods that they ACTUALLY like. People need to know that sugar is an addiction because they do not know. They have to be slowly weened off bad sugar and use healthy sugar.
Also, they need to know that keeping unhealthy food in their houses or apartments will lead to weight gain. No one has infinite willpower. Willpower in a way is wishful thinking. Instead of dealing with the problem deal with the door that leads to the problem. I.e if you're in love with ice cream keep the ice cream out the house! Don't even allow yourself to be tempted by it... Not "one slice is fine." And if you are tempted, run! They should teach children about healthy eating for one week every year.
If the diet works for you, then it works for you. If OMAD (one meal a day) works, go for it. If keto works for you go for it. If 6 meals a day works for you go for it. If intermittent fasting works, then go for it.
If paleo works, go for it. There are multiple ways to get things done. PEACE AND LOVE.Source(s): Years of learning about it.
