2005 Toyota Celica GT doesnt have an immobolizer key, but it does have a key fob?

Does it work similar to an immobolizer key? Meaning if the key fob is not near the car, the engine wont start even if you use its key?

Update:

@Ron, can you explain more?

    Car will start.  Fob is only for locking and unlocking doors.

    Toyota keys have a chip in them that must be close to the column for the car to start. If you have a simple copy of the key you can open the doors but the car will not start.

    I have known families that used the same car but didn't want to buy a bunch of chip keys so they hid one of their chip keys up under the dash near the ignition cylinder. They could then use any cheap copied key to start the car.
