Stressed kitten doesn't want to go to the toilet?

I saved a kitten yesterday in the rain. The kitty is fine, well fed but still really stressed. It gets more comfortable each minute it's been with us for the past 10-11 hrs but still is too afraid to use the toilet. Stimulation does not help. The kitten is old enough to go on its own 2-3 months old. Any ideas how to calm him down even more? We hug him, pet him, feed him but still nothing helps going to the toilet. Please give me advices.

If the kitten was used to being outside, try scooping up a little mulch or grass, or something else from the ground outside. Put this over the top of the litter and see if this helps. If the kitten has an accident on the floor, soak or pick it up and put in the litter box.

Be sure to keep the kitten and its litter box in a small, tiled room such as a bathroom, until it is ready to use the box consistently.

most cats and kittens will hide and refuse food and won't use the litter pan for several days in a new environment.  don't panic--let the little kitty get used to the situation.

Give him some clean litter and some privacy. Cats understand how to use litter but they don't like it when you watch.
