If it counts, "The Road," since it was done under an apocalyptic theme... and others have already mentioned Castaway...

That one Mars movie with Matt Damon was alright but - there are so many Mars (and outerspace) movies with the same theme that none of them really run away with the win in my opinion.

That movie about the viral alien that had Gyllenhaal in it was crazy-morbid... not really a survival movie for obvious reasons but... crazy...

Alive,  for sure.    I love the way the story was told.

yep, I agree with @Panther in including The Pianist. Ever since I saw it, I think it could easily be a dystopian, or a sci-fi about an alien invasion.

My favorite in absolute is The Road

and then precisely The Pianist, obviously Life of Pi, Children of Men, The Revenant, Light of My Life, A Quiet Place

and I also want to mention The Night Eats the World, a french zombie / survival, shot with little money in very little space, and capable of being at the level of much more pretentious movies. recommended.

Interesting question--and there are lots to choose from, too.

I think I'll take "The Martian." Although "127 Hours" and "All is Lost" are also tempting.
