Why are there no Renaissance paintings celebrating the colour brown?

    The Renaissance didn't happen in Africa. It happened in Europe, at the time it was 99.9% white.

    There are renaissance paintings with African/Asian people as the subject. Few were wealthy enough in that era to commission portraits.

    The colour 'Van Dyck brown' was named after Anthony van Dyck.  Here is a painting of him:

    Europe was full of white people at that time, so the white artists painted the white people they saw around them. Simple.
