What's the most negative book you've ever read?
I read "The Shrine of Jeffrey Dahmer" by Brian Masters and "Newtown: An American Tragedy" by an author I don't remember.
Both extremely disturbing because they go deep into both Dahmer's and Lanza's minds.
I didn't need some details, though I am old enough to handle it.

I don’t think those books are remotely negative. I think you have a negative reaction to their content.
For negative books I’ll go with The Dinner by Herman Koch. The quality of the writing was the only thing that kept me reading it. I generally don’t have problems with unsympathetic characters, but these people were vile. I wanted to shower each time I read it.
