Is Gideon a girl or boys name? Sorry for sounding stupid me and my sister are debating

Technically I believe that Gideon may be a geographical name but I prefer it for boys.

It’s not my favorite, but I don’t mind it. It sounds like a very strong male name. I don’t see any obvious nicknames though.
