Why don't companies fix their damn security certificates?

Some sites are generating browser warnings on every page or click. Did something change in the requirements and companies just haven't caught up yet?

    They are just too busy sticking crayons in their brains and picking their nose before eating the contents of it.

    they typically have really long subscription certificates, so their tech people just missed the renewal.

    and many  big companies are managed by just a handful of tech companies...

    You have to update your browser software from time to time to update the root certificates on your PC. They authenticate the main authentication sites. Still on Windows 7 or XP you better get used to it.
