Kawasaki Bayou 220cc shifting issues ?

I have a 1995 Kawasaki Bayou that I recently purchased. The quad doesn't have a clutch, the transmission is reverse up to nuetral then up to 1st-5th) For some reason it has serious issues going into neutral though, it either slams down into reverse and when I'm in reverse it doesn't just idle it goes about 3 mph. When I shift up I sometimes have to use my hand because its so hard . Why is this?

It has an automatic clutch that might be out of adjustment. Idle speed could be too high. Could have the wrong oil in it. Or auto clutch could be stuffed.

It does not have a clutch handle but it surely does have a clutch.  There is a clutch adjuster on the right side of crankcase.
