is it okay to take centrum silver multivitamin even though you I may not be eating enough protein/calories?

I would be more worried about not eating enough protein and calories.
Generally if you are eating enough you should be getting enough calories from your diet (exceptions may be vitamin b12 if vegan and vitamin D in some climates).
Not eating enough protein is also a bad thing. Unlike fat and carbs your body doesn't store or synthesize what it requires and only gets it from a healthy diet.
Look into a healthy diet and don't bother with the multivitamins. They have been described as a way of making expensive urine.

centrum are SYNTHETIC VITAMINS, learn how to tell the difference....AND synthetic yield about 25% of the natural type, you're ripping yourself off.....

The whole idea behind vitamins and supplements is to help people get the nutrition they aren't getting through the foods/drinks they consume. The issue is many people have no idea what nutrients they are deficient in, and much of the multivitamin is wasted (wasted $) because the body eliminates what it doesn't need. Processed supplements are also a poor replacement for actually consuming nutritious food, as the body absorbs the nutrients from natural sources far better than it does from a processed pill. If you are concerned about safety, talk to your doctor. No one here can tell you if that product is safe for YOU to take, because we know nothing about you.
