Can I use my charcoal and propane grill together. It 2 in 1?

I'd be afraid of fumes from the propane being ignited by the charcoal gill.

That doesn't sound safe. Aside from that using one fuel source negates the need for the other.

Why? you are paying for charcoal when there is no need for it. Or you are paying for propane and there is no need. Not to mention that once charcoal is lit there is no need for further lighting of the briquettes.
If you want the flavor that comes from the juices and fat dripping onto the briquettes that is what the lava rocks or the "flavorizer bars" are for in the gas grills.
But can you sure if you really want to. You can probably use a lower heat on the grill setting since the briquettes will burn pretty hot once they get going.
