Will a 2006 Honda Civic engine fit a 2005 as long as both are 1.7? Yes or no?

    No. The 1.7 is a D17 engine. You will need to find a 2001-2005 model Civic (non-Si model).The 2006 redesign never came with the 1.7.  It used the R18A1 1.8 liter engine. The 2.0 liter mentioned in another answer was the K20, and it was only used in the Civic Si.

    I say YES.  Antipollution may have to be swapped out as your car is configured with the latest antipollution stuff.

    that depends on if the PCM's are the same part number for both vehicles. Call the Honda parts department with the VIN's from both vehicles and they can look it up for you.

    Not easily. The 2005 was a 7th Generation vehicle and the 2006 was 8th generation, so there are differences. In the U.S. market, the 2006 was only available with a 2.0 liter engine..
