    In the US it's correct to say "a" uniform.

    In American English, the proper indefinite article is "a", not "an", although uniform does start with a vowel.

    OK- the a/an rule is a SOUND rule, not a SPELLING rule. If the beginning of the word has the "yu" sound rather than an "u" sound, it is treated as a consonant, and the article is "a".

    a uniforn

    an uninformed person.

    a university

    an upper floor room
