Just met a 91yr old who shared the family home with great grandma born 1849 - imagine the tales. Anyone beat such live first hand history?

My grandfather was born in 1874. His father was born in 1845. I don't remember my grandfather but my older sister remembers him quite well.

  • That's pretty awesome, I love  listening to history firsthand.  My elderly neighbour when I was a kid was near 100 and had fought in the Boer War.

As a kid, we moved into a house that my great uncle owned.  I vaguely remember him - he was born in 1885.  As a teen, I was driven around by a WWI vet who was helping my cadet group.  He did not look any older than the WWII ones!
