The IRS is a Dept. within the US Govt. Yes the IRS is feared, Why? The IRS has the power to lock down and attach Tax Liens against any assets including real property & Bank Acct.'s if they feel you have not paid your taxes correctly. The IRS doesn't have to prove you Owe Taxes, you have to prove you Do Not Owe Taxes. Their power is unlimited. Even if you do not owe the tax as they state you will spend a lot of money and time defending yourself and could still lose everything during the process.
