Question about cars?

I needed a new battery terminal clamp for my car. How do you slip it on because it is so snug. It barely fits on unless I got the wrong one.

It's possible you got the wrong one. The positive battery post is often slightly larger than the negative one. They are supposed to be snug though.

Loosen the tightening bolt and spread it.  Tap with a mallet when installing.

You probably got the wrong one. The posts on most batteries are two different sizes to prevent idiots from putting the wrong cable on the wrong post.

Open the lock nut and spread it with a screwdriver. Then tap it on until it's flush with the top of the post.
