Is this an adequate birthday gift for my cousin?

A little beaten sterling silver heart ring?  I bought it for $22 in a bohemian town.  It’s not beautiful, but it’s cute, I’m poor, so I tend to bargain shop throughout the year in cute shops and markets for nice but cheaper stuff and cute styles suit her.  She’s in her early forties, but is an attractive woman who looks like she’s in her mid thirties.

A well-thought-out gift is a joy, especially given your financial circumstances. You thought about her in advance of her birthday and hunted to find the right item. She's so fortunate to have you as a cousin. It shows how much you care about honoring her special day, no matter what the gift and price tag.

your presence is a gift of its own you shouldn’t have to buy your cousin anything
