Can COVID-19 travel through windows if they are cracked open?

I have had everything sealed up like my grandfather used to do in event of chemical war after 9/11. However, someone told me this is not possible for the virus to come in as long as the windows are closed and even suggested I open them. I live in a neighborhood so don't feel safe doing that since my daughter has Asthma. We have stayed inside since March.
