Why does Mike Tyson get forgiven for his past misdeeds so easily?

Considering that people these days are so up in arms about sexual misconduct, why is it that everyone is willing to enjoy and praise stuff by Mike Tyson and treat him like pop culture royalty despite him being a convicted rapist? I'm genuinely just curious, does he have the best PR guy in the world or something?

Not everyone is so forgiving. But Tyson did his prison sentence and so is considered to have "paid his debt to society". He's also become more of a sympathetic character as his horrible childhood has been revealed and because he lost a daughter in a freak accident some years ago.

Well, it takes a very positive or an open / shut case to beat the Attorneys of a Celebrity.  It's more about the Attorney then it is about cases where "he said/ she said" .  Many girls put themselves in precarious situations then they want to scream rape after they've already made bad choices.  They're smitten because Celebrities are interested in them, and then they discover it was only for sex.  Forcible sex.

I guess they figure his face tattoo is punishment enough that he has to live with to remind him of poor decisions.

Fair question. He did go to prison. He has technically served his time and been held accountable for his actions. If we suggest he should still be sanctioned or that he is not reformed then this is more of a commentary commentary on our ineffective criminal justice system.
