If someone repeats something they shared about themselves, are they trying to get you to share the same information about yourself?

For example, someone says, “I always wear my mask.”, and you don’t respond, then 

they repeat themself (immediately after or at another time).

To me, that sounds like fishing to find out your mask wearing habits.

    They could either be... retarded or from New York/the northeast. Ever notice how those people repeat things? "Hey, you like sausage pizza? I think we should get a sausage pizza, are you a fan of sausage?"
