There are many ways to help yourself with anxiety. Learn to relax controlling your breathing is one of them. Try to maintain a balance inhaling/exhaling. Learn to think that no matter how heavy the attack is, the world is not going to end. OTC some people take Valerian (liquid) to calm the nerves, or St. John's Worth (tea), to help with the mood. None of those herbs are addictive. Anxiety starts with the thoughts, so controlling the thoughts - diverting the mind- can help. A good psychologist - good therapist - can be recomendable. Where to find a good one, that is the problem. Reading Psalms 23, and 91 loud can also help. Hope you get better.

Niacinamide is a great choice!  Check out these quotes:

"Niacinamide  might  exert  its  effects through its modulation of neuro-transmittersthat  are  commonly  unbalanced  in  those  areas  of  the  brain  associated  with  anxiety."

"Three patients were prescribed large pharmacological doses of niacinamide (2,000-2,500 mg per day). Each of the patients had considerable relief from their anxiety when regularly using niacinamide."

" Lactobacillus (L.) rhamnosus has the most evidence showing that it could significantly reduce anxiety."

    Vitamin B-6

"The inhibitory brain neurotransmitter GABA is made from Glutamate via a P5P-dependent reaction. This key reaction may be a main reason why people with anxiety disorders benefit from B-6/P5P supplementation"

These supplements are easy to find and affordable.  Take the right doses and be consistent and you should find the relief.  Good luck!

Why not prescription medications that could actually work and are non-addictive?

There are prescription medications that really work for anxiety and are non-addictive but they have some side effects for some people..

You can sometimes get librium without prescription which is an anti-anxiety drug but not so potent, but it is slightly addictive, but i am not sure if it is otc or not..

OTC will not work. You need doctor prescribed medicine.

Lyme disease and heavy metal poisoning are known to cause anxiety - find a good doctor who can check that out.

If your doctor refuse to check (happens often) - find another one.
