Do Biotin Supplements work?
Is it good for hair growth?

Yeah it works by helping to increase blood flow to the capillaries in the scalp and more blood flow means your hair will grow faster. Massage your scalp everyday and try taking biotin everyday i think it takes a month for it to completely get in your system and you should start seeing changes within two to three months.

As long as you’re consuming it, yes it should work assuming that it’s the recommended amount. However, things like biotin shampoo/conditioner/hair mask does not work.

Biotin is an essential nutrient and helps you body metabolize protein however supplements are not needed. Biotin is easily available in almost all our food and our bodies have no problems absorbing it. Excess biotin is excreted from the body so all supplements do is give you biotin rich pee.
Biotin's reputation as a hair growing vitamin is a result of a science misunderstanding. Pregnant women take large doses of biotin to prevent a serious and devastating birth defect called Spina bifida. Pregnant women also have fast growing hair and do not shed any hair while pregnant. Some speculated it was the mega doses of biotin. Further research indicated it was as pregnancy hormones because after birth women lose most of the hair they didn't shed while pregnant.
Everyone paid attention to one claim while ignoring the other. Continuing research shows no real benefit for non pregnant people to mega-dose biotin. It can make some sick if they over-consume too quickly. Most end up with biotin rich expense pee as the body excretes what it doesn't need. It's best to supplement any nutrient deficiencies with food, not pills.
