Was king james a homosexual?

He is always depicted as being incredibly flamboyant.

No clue where you heard that, but you're an obvious troll. I've taken many history classes including college ones. From what I heard, he was a ruthless king. Only good thing he did was give us the King James version of the Bible.

Probably. Homosexual acts were illegal back then and carried the death sentence so gay men were discrete and their activities were not made public.  Queen Anne, James's wife, gave birth to seven live children as well as having two stillborn infants and at least three miscarriages. It was the duty of kings, whatever their sexuality, to have heirs and James did his duty. He has been linked romantically with Esme Stuart, Duke of Lennox, Robert Carr, Earl of Somerset, and George Villiers, Duke of Buckingham. They were very close and slept together but whether they had sex is unknown. We will never know for sure what his sexuality was.
