help with vector subtraction problem? without sine and cos law?
A car is traveling at 100 km/h, due northwest. The driver puts on the brakes and turns the corner. Four seconds later, he is heading east at 50 km/h. What is the average acceleration?

So do it by components. You know how to subtract vectors given in components, right?
100 northwest = 70.71 north + 70.71 west
50 east = 50 east
50j - (70.71i - 70.71j) = -70.71i + 120.71j, in km/h
Next convert to m/s and divide with 4 s.
