The Sun is not known for being a valid source of facts.

Being laid off is not being sacked.

Parliament determines the royals' funding and the budget has already been planned. Since there is an economic slow down, the Crown Estates may see an economic loss and a raise in funding may not be possible. Everyone will be expected to be frugal and economize.

Something's up. Technically, Charles is king as soon as HM dies. Will he be be crowned by the Archbishop of Canterbury? It seems less likely every day. #harrymarkle

A report typical of the journalistic standards we have come to expect of The Sun. Being offered voluntary redundancy is not the same as being sacked.

Between 175 and 250 workers are being offered voluntary redundancies .

    That is not being sacked.

This poor queen is living in squalor. She is now forced to wipe her own **** up to 3 times a times day! Please give generously so that she, and people like her, can afford the basic necessities of life like private jets and BuckingHUGE castles.

    Please! Give generously.

EDIT: I should add that I actually have a lot of respect for the Queen. The rest of them? Not so much.

The Royal Household has to balance its budget and if there are no visitors they can't justify keeping the staff indefinitely (they are not servants). A lot of these posts depend on international tourism and that has collapsed in the wake of the pandemic with no immediate prospect of recovery.
