If I took a COVID-19 test 8 days before my surgery, would that count as my testing even know it's early?

I'm having surgery in a little over a week. I know they're going to order me a test a few days before my surgery, but I rather get the testing over with now. If I schedule it on my own, will it count as my testing or will I have to get another one done? They would probably call me a few days before my surgery but I kind of want to just get it out of the way now..

The later you have it, the better, because there will be less time for you to possibly catch the virus between the test and your op.
