teacher wanting to be lpc?

Currently I am working as a high school science teacher in texas.

I am really considering getting my masters in counseling and becoming a lpc.

Does this seem like a smart move?

I researched the salaries and it looks like teaching is a little higher.

Any advice would be appreciated thank you.

hello. You need to be very loving and patient as a counselor. Imagine the students go to you for counseling in college and you need to handle 6 hours of counseling with a little break. Then on the not so good day, all the 6 students broke down and cried for a total of 30 minutes. You need to be mentally strong to withstand all these and it could be more challenging than  teaching in some ways.

It depends on your personality fit. it depends on whether you will be happy doing counseling when counselors are not treated as well in my society than school teachers.
