I inhaled an opened jar of old pond water, how severe is this?
I have kept old pond water in an airtight mason jar for over three months. I wasnt thinking and just opened it to see if there was any life within the sample under my microscope. When i opened it the air came out like a soda bottle and the room smelled like death. I have a headache now and my throat is a bit itchy. Is this going to get worse?? What should I do? How bad is this?
Also, what elements and molecules were released?

Just inhaled? Most probably no problem. What you smelled? Probably mostly nitrogen from the anaerobic bacteria that flourished inside the air-tight jar. Think of fart-bomb. That's all you had.

More than likely you smelled of gases from the organic compounds in the water. Truthfully, you sound like a bit of a hypochondriac to me.
