It's very clear you don't actually have a story that you want to tell, about anything.

Until you do have a story that you want to tell, please stop wasting our time.

First research about yuppies. Then research the 80's to see if there is a particular setting you want. Then learn the vernacular of the era, along with the clothing styles, etc.

Holy freakin' Christ, Kevin. You do research. How many times do we need to tell you?

The same way you write stories about other people.

Find out about the 1980s in America generally and about Young Urban Professionals in particular. (Most were from the 1950- 1960 crops of Baby Boomers coming into the workforce at 25 or rising the promotion or financial ladder by 30) Hopefully the research libraries will soon reopen or the magazines, newspapers, videos etc from the late 1970s onward are available on line.

Develop your theme characters and plot. Write your outlines.

Then write the first draft of your story.  Edit. Revise. Rewrite. Repeat.

Why don't you take a break from these asinine questions and wait until 2080 to write your rubbish story?
