Whether a chain is national/regional/local is *not* related to whether or not its products are superior or hated. It is mostly a function of capitalization: if a company has a lot of money to acquire locations, build, and open them is all about money, not consumer acceptance.
The midwestern states seem to absolutely love mediocre tasting food.
