Are casino game workers like dealers and sports book cashiers allowed to bet there off the clock, or at other casinos, mobile or in person ?

Update:

Also, since summer is peak vacation busy season, what happens to all the employees who aren't needed as much during the off seasons like winter? Do their hours get cut way back, which means a big cut in pay?

While it depends on the casino & the state's gaming commission that provides your license (that authorizes you to work at a casino in that state) on the laws & policies here...  but you generally cannot gamble at your place of work (& other locations owned by said employer).

The main reason is that it can be considered a conflict of interest & you may have an inside hand (by potentially knowing the other dealers), which raises a considerable suspicion of cheating.  This could get you fired & your gaming license revoked.

You're likely permitted to gamble at another casino since you're a more neutral person at those establishments (so you're unlikely get any suspicions of cheating).

Double-check your gaming commission's regulations for the exact ruling here.

They are, but they know better.

Employees are strictly forbidden from betting at their place of work. Many of the employees are casual staff who get laid off when things are not busy.

No, and in the UK it used to be the case that if you were found gambling at ANY casino in the country, you would lose your gaming licence.

Rules vary by casinos.  At Canterbury in the card rooms I've often seen dealers and even managers play in the games.  Some even play in small tables like mixed-8 just to have enough players.

There is no one rule for all casinos worldwide.  With the casinos closest to me, the employees cannot gamble at the casino they work at but they are allowed to gamble at other casinos properties.

If varies by casino. I know at come casinos people who work on table games can play slots but not other table games, and people who work on slots can play table games but not other slots.

I do not think that it is common to hire extra help during busy times. Instead they will send people home early when it is quiet and keep people over when it is busy.

Every casino on the planet doesn't have the same rules.  And it's likely some workers are full time, and other workers are specifically hired just for the summer or other busy seasons.

They aren't allowed at their own casino, and if recognized, would be asked to leave, by the management of competing casinos.  The game workers know too much.
