regular cream cheese instead of whipped?

    Whipped is good for sandwiches. Whipped cream cheese or whipped butter is not good for measuring, since each company uses a different method of whipping-and how much air they put into it.

    For what?   

    To schmear on a bagel?    Fine.

    For something else?   Maybe yes, maybe no.  You'll have to measure by weight, not volume.   And you may get a different taste/texture which may or may not be ok.  Whipped has a more granular texture.  It also has less lactic acid and therefore less tangy flavor than block cream cheese.  

    It's hard to give you specific advice since you didn't bother to tell us what you're making.  

    ETA:   If I saw a recipe for cheesecake that called for whipped cream cheese, I'd skip it.   Cheesecake should be made with block cream cheese IMO.
