Can u file your taxes without your social security card?

If you lost your social security card can you still file your taxes or not ?

    Mean people have it,and it is a habit,if yes.They don,t have and may be they become filed,what if they would have been lied at?

    You need the NUMBER. You don't use the actual card.

    Sure.  All you need is your social security NUMBER; not your card.  IRS has never asked people to send them their social security cards with their income tax returns.

    you don't need the card, you need the number. many people memorize their number.

    I believe the IRS can give a tax ID number but you would be easily able to get a replacement.
