Can I keep my Kindle Unlimited books after I cancel my subscription?

What I'm worried about is losing all of my notes and highlights if I were to cancel my subscription. But if I bought the book, would it override the same existing KU book as well as all of my note/highlights?

  • No. You cannot keep the books. Well, you could keep them for awhile by unregistering the device before canceling or by shutting the WiFi off. But you’ll need your device and WiFi to ever read anything other than those 10 books in the future!

Your notes and highlights will be saved. Just be careful to purchase the same edition (with ebooks there are rarely more than one, but be careful) and they’ll be there. You can actually see all your notes in a text document without having the book at all.
