Personal income taxes are calculated on a CALENDAR YEAR basis. When you actually filed is 100% IRRELEVANT.

Tax year in the US is the calendar year for individuals.  When you file has no bearing.

The 2019 tax return was for 1/1/19 thru 12/31/19.

The 2020 tax return will be for 1/1/20 thru 12/31/20.
