Why is the scientific community not allowed to acknowledge race has an affect on IQ?

The man who discovered the double helix in DNA, James Watson, was cancelled for this very reason. Why do people get so emotional over scientific observations? The data gets passed over as pseudoscience when it is real.

People are afraid of the disruptive social and political implications of such statements, and what may come about if people actually believed these things to be true.  It could  be used to support Discrimination and prejudices  of various types against certain races or minorities.   And even could ,in extreme cases be used as an excuse to evict or KILL them.----

So we have , in effect, a "Gentlemen's agreement" in the Scientific Community, NOT to venture into these subject matters.------People already have opinions based on their experiments or politics in these cases--which is disruptive enough---to back it up Scientifically, is ASKING for troubles.

IQ has nothing to do with race or ethnicity.  Factors such as culture, socio-economic status have to be taken into account. Personal fatigue has to be taken into consideration. For example, a person living in the modern industrial world would be unfamiliar with objects that are used everyday by people in some countries or were everyday household objects used 60 - 70 years ago .  So a person given just a word and 4 choices of meaning would most likely guess incorrectly.

People who used to know Watson personally describe him as highly objectionable.  IQ tends to increase as a country becomes more developed. In the early part of the twentieth century, mean IQ in Belgium was about eighty and is now one hundred.  Afrikans are more genetically diverse than the rest of the world's population, so they can be expected to have higher IQs - less inbred - and therefore the lower IQ they in fact exhibit is an indictment of colonialism and global capitalism, as it simply indicates the countries concerned are needlessly deprived and not treated fairly by the world economy.

Race has nothing to do with IQ.  If that were the case why are many scientists & doctors African Americans while many whites can't even multiply numbers.

The effect is probably not genetic.  There is a much bigger effect --- the secular increase in IQ among all populations over the past century.  That cannot be explained by genetics, and it shows the degree to which IQ scores are the result of environment.

Modern humans are all very similar in their genetic makeup.  Our ancestors killed off all the sub-human species of genus Homo millennia ago.

Because if they acknowledge race and intelligent are link it would look like White Supremacy because on average White People are more intelligent than Black People.

Black Brains are smaller than White Brains.

And Male Brains are bigger than Female brains.

But what’s interesting is Black Women are more into education than Black Men.

And it’s mostly the Black Males that drop out of School.

No IQ test is culture-free.  When the variables of family income and education are controlled, kids in black families have the same average IQ as that of other races.

But if you're still worried about IQ, try raising yours by learning to write proper English; there are no special exceptions for white people.  (Sorry to disappoint you.)

There are IQ tests that claim to be culturally-neutral. According to the author of "The Bell Curve", there are differences among races in terms of the means. However, there is so much overlap that there is no predictive value. Pick the test and you can pick the results you get. My dogs think that I am exceptionally stupid because I cant follow even a fresh scent trail.

    1) IQ is NOT a valid measure of innate intelligence.  Among other things it is heavily influenced by the environment in which the test taker grew up--the prevailing culture/society/peer group, how the person was raised, nutrition during early brain development and maturation, and even the health & nutrition and level of stress on his/her mother during pregnancy.  As far as pseudoscience is concerned, the  use of IQ to try to profile racial differences is a prime example of pseudoscience.

    2) Watson is just another example of someone who wandered out of his own area of expertise, and said something stupid. Just because he 's a Nobel laureate doesn't mean he can't screw up.

    3) You used incorrect wording in your lead question.  Proper wording would be that race has an "effect on" IQ, not an "affect on" it.

It's hard to do controlled studies in this area.

There are other factors such as childhood nutrition, disease, early education, and "tiger moms" -- I'll let you look up "Flynn Effect."
