Are people friendly in New York City? Can you make friends easily there?

New Yorkers get a bum rap for being unfriendly; we're not.  But we are usually busy and things (pre-Covid) congested so SUPERFICIAL friendliness is sometimes not very common.  Once you get to know a New Yorker, we are as friendly as anyone elsewhere,  If you strike up a conversation with a New Yorker, ditto.  But no, people here don't just say good morning or good afternoon and smile while walking down the street.

You can find friendly people in the Bible-believing churches, like Baptist.

It is fast-paced here, and many of us are in a hurry.  But if you join something - a club, gym, church, volunteer group, you will be around people who like the same things as you - so that should make it easier.  There used to be a chorus called Joy of Singing - which was *really* created to unite very very shy people.  They did give a concert each year - but it was more for the fellowship than the music - although they deserved to be proud of their accomplishments.

There are more than 8 million people in NYC as well as many tourists, all with different personalities.

This was many years ago, but I found most as friendly as anywhere else.
