In a nutshell (from the chapter heading in my Bible), "Nebuchadnezzar's dream is revealed to Daniel -- The king saw a great image; a stone cut from the mountain without hands destroyed the image; and the stone grew and filled the whole Earth -- The stone is the latter-day kingdom of God."

The image represents various earthly kingdoms.  The gold head was Babylon.  The silver and the brass parts were Media and Persia, which would rule over all the Earth.

The fourth kingdom, which was as strong as iron, was the Roman empire, of course.

The feet and toes of clay and iron mixed represent the various empires and kingdoms that followed the collapse of Rome, some strong, some weak.

Notice verses 44 and 45.  "And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed, and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever."  "Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands,  and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter..."

The stone represents the kingdom of God.  Being cut out of the mountain without hands means that it is set up not by man, but by God's workings with man.  The church or kingdom that is established will start small but eventually fill all the Earth.

Well, those kingdoms no longer exist.  Most of them are theocracies or part of the European Union now.  This church has already been established through angelic ministry, restoring the everlasting gospel of Christ to the Earth in the latter days.  See Rev. 14:6.

NEBUCHADNEZZAR king of BABYLON had a dream about a great statue,it's head was of gold, that represents his kingdom BABYLON,THE chest and arms was of silver that represents the MED AND PERSIA  THEY conquer BABYLON,THE belly and thighs were of bronze this was of the GREEK EMPIRE,THEY conquer the med;s and PERSIA and finely the legs and feet mixed with partly iron and partly clay represents the ROMAN EMPIRE they conquer the GREEK EMPIRE.ROME was never defeated but decline through the years due to religion and because the people spoke different language and customs this is why it is mention the legs, thighs and toes are mixed partly with iron and clay it does not mix.HOW ever it is foretold by GOD that the ROMAN EMPIRE will once again be revived in the last days to flex it's mussel  in the world as we can clearly see today known as THE EURO-PEN UNION or THE REVIVED ROMAN EMPIRE.

God speaks to us individually through sacred texts.  It means that a righteous and wise person who walks in the ways of the Lord can understand and interpret dreams when mere human learning cannot.

Dan. 2:44 is of particular interest.  Compare Mt. 21:43, Col. 1:13, 2 Pet. 1:11

The king had a dream. This is a literary device commonly used by writers who have no idea how else to get their point across.

God gave Nebuchadnezzar the knowledge of what was true and what would be true about the major kingdoms that affected God's people. From the head of gold (Babylon) to the feet mixed with iron (great strength) and clay (weakness) which represents the loose association of strong and weak nations today.

Much of Daniel chapter 2 is about four world empires of the past, and then about the coming world government in the future, which will be very dangerous.  That is in the future, but your death will most likely be first.  Here is the truth:  Death leads to immediate heaven or hell. The only way to have eternal life, the only way to be in heaven and avoid hell, is by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ (John 6:47).  It is that simple and that easy.  It is too late to be saved after death.  Jesus is God and Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood to pay for all of our sins in full, and then Jesus was buried, and then Jesus resurrected from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).  The Lord Jesus Christ paid for our sins with His death and blood.  Nothing else pays for our sins, not works from us or anything else.  You cannot add any works to getting into heaven (Romans 4:5).
