If alcohol is a disinfectant for corona, why then was alcohol banned in South Africa. Drinking it could heal you from the virus?

You are mixing up drinking alcohol with topical application. You are also mixing up ethanol ans isopropyl alcohol/

From answers it seems nobody really knows why government banned alcohol during the lockout. Recommending alcohol for sanitizing then ban alcohol does not make sense.

Drinking the alcohol that can kill the virus would kill you as well.

No, drinking alcohol does not kill the virus. Washing your hands is what can kill the virus that is on your hands and using hand sanitizer is also a chance to kill the virus (even if handwashing is what's more likely to kill what's on your hands). That doesn't mean that intake kills it. Hand sanitizers need to be at least 60% alcohol to be effective. Drinking that high amount could really cause damage.

People don't drink hand sanitiser. It's not the same as alcohol produced for consumption.
