Can you explain what this is?

I am applying for My Hero Award for Caregivers in California. And I was wondering what the third check box mean, I am living in California but it says "I am not an employee of California..." Should I check it or not? Thank you so much in advance!

No, it DOES NOT say "I am an employee of California".

It says " I am not an employee of the STATE of California. It means that the STATE of California isn't hiring you or withholding taxes.

You are an employee of whoever you get your paycheck from.

It is asking if you are an employee of the State of CA.

If you're not an employee of the State of California, then you should check it. If you are, then you shouldn't. It seems pretty simple to me...
